eit swim2026コレクションのメインの柄として、今季は「草木染め」をコンセプトとして取り入れています。草木染めは、植物から採れる天然の染料を使い、布や紙を染める染色方法。日本では縄文時代から、暮らしの中で自然と行われてきました。
縄文の人々は木の皮や草木を用い、暮らしの中で布を自然の色に染めていました。
やがて奈良、平安時代に染色技術は洗練され、色は身分や季節、そして厄除けや再生を願う祈りを映すものに。
武家社会では、実用性に優れた藍染めや土から生まれる茶の色が日常着に用いられ、華美を避ける価値観の中で簡素の美が育まれました。
江戸時代には庶民の手によって草木染めがさらに磨かれ、日本独自の奥深い色文化が完成しました。季節や採取する植物の部位、地域によって表情を変える。つまりその土地、その時だけの色を楽しめるのが草木染めの美しさです。
For the main pattern of the eit swim 2026 collection, we focused on natural dyeing. Natural dyeing uses pigments extracted from plants to color fabric or paper, and it has been part of Japanese daily life since the Jōmon period.
Back then, people dyed cloth with tree bark, leaves, and grasses, bringing the colors of nature into their everyday lives. By the Nara and Heian periods, dyeing techniques had become more refined, and colors came to represent social status, the seasons, and even prayers for protection and renewal.
During the samurai era, practical dyes like indigo and earthy browns dominated daily clothing, reflecting a cultural value of restraint and the beauty of simplicity. By the Edo period, natural dyeing had been further refined by ordinary people, creating Japan’s unique, deeply nuanced color culture. The colors vary depending on the season, the part of the plant used, and the region—making each hue unique to its time and place.
その素晴らしさを教えてくださったのは、草木染めアーティストのWUY（ワイ）さんでした。今回のコラボレーションのお相手です。ご夫婦で「Re：染め」というプロジェクトを立ち上げ、廃棄に向かう衣類を草木染めで蘇らせる、循環の取り組みを行なっています。お二人と打ち合わせを重ね、WUYさんが藍の葉とログウッドを煮出してできた液をインクとして作り、デザイナーのLAFさんがそれを使って紙に描くという手法で、eit swim2026コレクションの草木柄が生まれました。
偶然と必然が融合した、どこにもないオリジナルのマーブルカラー。深く淡く、肌にふっと馴染む自然ならではの優しさを持っています。水の中では、揺れる水の動きに呼応するように、マーブルがやわらかく流れ、まるで水と一体になるかのような美しさを見せます。

The inspiration came from natural dye artists WUY, who we collaborated with this season. The couple runs a project called Re:Zome(dye), reviving discarded garments through natural dyeing and promoting a circular approach to fashion. Working closely with them, WUY prepared dyes by simmering indigo leaves and logwood to create ink, and designer LAF applied it to paper—giving birth to the plant-inspired patterns for the eit swim 2026 collection.
A one-of-a-kind marbled color shaped by both chance and intention. Soft yet deep, it carries a natural gentleness that settles effortlessly on the skin. In the water, the marbling moves with the flow, responding to each ripple and sway, slowly blending until it feels as if the colors and the water become one.

※スイムウエアはその機能性を重視する性格から、化学繊維が使用されています。eit swimで採用しているリサイクルポリエステルやリサイクルナイロンといった化学繊維には残念ながら草木染めは使用できないため、「伝える」ことを重要な目的とし、スイムウエアにプリントするという方法を取っています。
